Hey, it is awesome to have you and I am Malachi.
So today, we’re going to talk about something that’s very dear to the Lord’s heart and it’s oil.
it’s going to be talking about:
- what is our lives worth?
- How is God wanting to bless us with oil?
And we’re going to get into that very quickly because there’s a lot of misconceptions in the body of Christ in terms of:
what can we have?
- what can’t we have?
- Are we allowed to have certain blessings?
- or should we not have certain blessings?
- when it comes to tithing and offerings and actually being fed.
i mean even the prophet was fed by ravens.
we’re going to get into this and we’re going to start in the book of second kings chapter four –the widow’s oil.
So the word says:
“Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the Lord : and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.”
Elisha asks in verse 2:
And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.
[3] Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.
[4] And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.
So there is a clear instructions here that the prophet gives the woman.
so she was in distress, she was saying you know that my husband loved and he served the Lord fearfully.
Hebrews 11 vs 6 talks where we must believe that God rewards those who diligently seek him and we can’t even come to God without first having faith of such things.
That’s in Hebrews 11 vs 6; she used this and she says i know that by the spirit of God.
He served and loved the Lord, so please help me.
I don’t want my children to get taken away because i don’t have money and then the the prophet gives very clear instructions.
it’s very interesting the way this is worded.
Because ultimately speaking, when you’re submitted unto the Lord, and you’re walking with the him ,you’re living your life and you have a vision to come to fruition.
God isn’t going to always tell everybody.
it’s going to be your relationship, your
vision, your anointing.
The spirit of God is going to propel you and your gifts are going to open the door, that’s what the word says.
As we see, he tells her togo and ask her neighbours for jars.
That is the first command. she did that and that is obedience.
The second command was for her go and shut the door behind her in the house.
Let me tell you the reason this happened.
In the body of Christ we have a lot of naysayers and individuals who do not have the measure of faith that you have, in terms of doing what the Lord has appointed you to do.
it’s your destiny, it’s your walk with the Lord and nobody else has a say in your walk.
You should also be able to submit to your pastors.
They will give you guidance and help.
The prophet knew that if she went around telling everybody what was going to happen and was trying to be flamboyant about it, she would have gotten compromised.
There is a a possibility that people would have come against her. they would have tried to attack her and say:
Did God really say that?
How could you could go and shut your door behind you and then all of a sudden you’re going to get provision made for you.
Well you know that was an old testament practice.
That’s not really for today. You know the gifts don’t actually happenfor today.
Whatever the reason was, he knew that and and got rid of it right away.
Let’s continue.
Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.
[4] And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.
[5] So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.
[6] And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.
[7] Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.
it’s very interesting to understand she had no money.
She told God and the prophet; my husband he served and feared the Lord based on truth.
Because God blesses and gives grace to the humble. And she was submitting and was saying “help me, help me.”
In proverbs, it says i’ve never seen a righteous man forsaken or his seed begging for bread.
She knew these truths because she had a first love relationship with the Lord and knew that these principles were true.
So the prophet gave her instructions, get the canisters, go into your house, pour the little oil you have as an act of faith into these canisters and do not tell anybody.
And as she was doing this, these canisters are continuing to fill up. Praise God, she got provision.
2 Kings 4:7
“Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.”
Now she and her sons are going to live on the rest. She is not going to in debt again.
Well, you know we talk about the prosperity gospel.
The true prosperity gospel is living a humble and obedient heart unto the Lord. Submitted to the him, trusting that he will provide you with oil and understanding.
When he does provide you oil, what did the prophet say?
“Go sell the oil and pay your debt so that you and your sons
can live on the rest.”
It did not say go sell the oil and give it all away.
God didn’t bless you so thay you can go feed the homeless people become poor again.
it’s not all about this self-righteous.
All of a sudden you get tripped up and confused.
Why did Judas get mad at the woman with the alabaster jar?
He said: “Jesus, we could have sold that and fed the poor people and Jesus replied by saying she has done the better thing. She has anointed my feet.
There is a fine line between walking in provision, being blessed, understanding what the word of God says and listening to religious devils that lie to you and that tell you cannot be blessed.
You can be blessed. You can eat the fruits, however, don’t eat all your seed.
That is important. God gives seed to the sower.
You have to continually sow. You have to continually till the ground and reap.
As you do such things and you are able (in the Lord, by his grace, by his mercies, by his loving kindness) to be lifted up, to be prosperous to have money.
So that all will go well with you and your household. Jesus even said “Ask that you may receive, you don’t have because you don’t ask”
Are you submitted to Christ?
Are you serving God wholeheartedly? A 100%?
Are you laying your life down daily to say “Lord, I love you,” “show me,” “help me.”
If you are, Jesus has commanded – ask and it shall be given to you so that your joy may be complete.
This is important and you have to ask and believe.
James 4 says “you ask and you don’t receive because you ask out of selfish ambitions”
Understand what the word says, dig in the word, consume it, learn of who God is in your life, then you’ll grow and you’ll continue to be blessed.
Thank you so much. I love you.
