Hello, today we’re going to be talking about first peter chapter two.

we have already touched a lot on chapter one — just talking about the understanding of who Christ is and what he has done.

The whole gospel (Bible) talks about Jesus and that is what we’re doing and learning here.

Let us begin. This is going to be a really good chapter.

Do whatever helps you to understand more and grow draw closer to the Lord.

1 Peter 2:1

“Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings”

I will tell you something. You could pray about that because it’s super rich. It is very simple.

It may sound simple but with the work of the Holy spirit we can do such things.

I love the word of God because it is alive, active and sharper than to any two-edged sword and it will reveal the thoughts and intentions of your hearts.

As we go through this, learn about what the Bible says and how we can apply it our lives, not just to get head knowledge but also to get heart knowledge.

Let us pray.

Father, I just thank you Lord for the readers. I thank you holy spirit that you bless us, keep us, guide us and minister to us.

Lord I just ask that you would open up our hearts to receive what you have for us.

Lord, that you would allow us not just be head heavy Lord but rather, heart heavy so we canput your word into work and our lives.

Father, just lead us and guide us in Jesus name.

1 Peter 2:2-3,

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

[3] If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

This is an interesting concept. You can actually grow up into salvation.

I have notes here under this spiritual milk section and it goes right to john 16 vs 12 whereJesus says:

I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

[13] Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

[14] He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

[15] All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Let us read Hebrews 6 vs 4 before I touch on that.

Hebrews 6:4-6;

For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

[5] And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

[6] If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Long for pure spiritual milk, it is really rich because in John 16, Jesus is essentially saying the Holy Spirit iss going to guide you and lead you.

He is going to help you learn and you’ve probably heard me say before, where a lot of people will get in this whole lone ranger mentality where they declear “they do not need a pastor and they don’t need a preacher.

The bible also says submit to authorities and submit to the elders for they guard and they watch over you.

You can’t just take one thing and use it without also putting the other thing in light.

Like you can’t just say, “Hey, the Holy Spirit is going to teach me everything I need to know. I’m not going to go to church. I’m not going to submit to a pastor. I don’t need any guidance or help.”

That is what I call flaky. When you start getting flaky, you start getting dangerous.

When you’re a flaky christian and you start getting led left and right about certain different things. You’re not trusting God and submitting ipeople who have been walking longer in the Lord than you have. Ultimately, you think know it all and that becomes a big issue.

Anyways, the Lord is explaining that he will guide you into the truth. The Holy Spirit will guide and teach you.

In hebrews 6 vs 4, something very interesting there. It says that “it’s impossible in this case of those who have once been enlightened and who have tasted the heavenly gift.”

Let me expound on this.

If we’ve been enlightened, baptized with the spirit and have understood the true heavenly gift of walking in fellowship with God, it is kind of like the easiest way to make this a comparison with another thing.

Let’s say for instance you are satanist and there are different levels to satanism. Let’s say you’re a high priest in a satanist religion and you’re doing all kinds of crazy stuff. You have access to all types of crazy nonsense and all of a sudden, you try to leave.

You know the spiritual forces that are here know about you.

This is the same thing with with christianity and those who are really walking with the Lord and are baptized and serving God, where their mission is to serve the Lord and walk with him.

Then all of a sudden they understand all the things that God has done, all the goodness and  grace and then they publicly say “well, you know what? Forget this, I’m not going to walk with you anymore more. I’m out.”

Now the devil(enemy) knows who you are and he’s going to seek to take you out.

That is why it says “that anyone who has experienced this understanding of the heavenly gift of who Jesus is, the Holy Spirit, power the gifts of the Spirit”

Then all of a sudden, you taste all goodness the word of God and you fall away.

Well, it could be very hard for you to be restored again because you are publicly crucifying Christ.

That is why the word says not many of you should desire to be teachers because you’re going to be held to a higher standard and it’s true.

1 Peter 2:2-3 KJV

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

[3] If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

Verse 4 says;

To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious.

This is a great thing because this is going to put a lot of perspective to it.

This is one of my favourite chapters in the Bible.

Jesus was rejected. Isaiah 53 talks about the Lord Jesus was actually rejected.

Isaiah 53:1-7 KJV

Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?

[2] For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

[3] He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

[4] Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

[5] But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

[6] All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

[7] He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

This place is giving us a picture of Jesus on earth.

It is saying thatbthere was nothing great about him. There is no majesty thatbwould draw menin a materialistic way. There was nothing nothing crazy that would draw us to him.

It was only the father that drew people to Jesus so that they may be saved, have the the redemption and come into the inheritance of being a child of God.

In verse 3 of isaiah 53, it says he was despised, rejected and men hid their faces from him. People were actually hiding their face from Jesus.

Here, Peter is explaining that this may happen to you as you preach the gospel because those that love God are going to hear you but those who doesn’t want God right now will not hear you.

We have to understand that God would lead them to repentance if he wills but we can’t be offended by it. we can’t get upset because they aren’t coming to God now.

2 Corinthians 2:14-17 ;

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

[15] For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

[16] To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

[17] For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

We have to understand that as we go and as we preach the gospel, Godbwill allow certain men and certain women to be understanding to what we have to say and he will open their eyes.

Why? Because to some, we are the aroma of life and to others, the aroma of death.

Let’s get back to the book of Peter.

1 Peter 2:5-7;

Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

[6] Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

[7] Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner.

Let us go to Roman 12. This is a chapter everybody needs to know and if you’ve read any of my article, you must have heard me talk about it.

Romans 12:1-2;

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

[2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

If you want to understand what the will of God is for your life;

How do I hear God?

How do I go where God wants me to go?

How do I receive the blessings that God has for me?

First and foremost, receive the Lord as your saviour and then offer your bodies as living sacrifice.

We don’t conform ourselves to the patterns of this world.

What does this world have? Debauchery, Lust (the pride of life, the lust of the eyes and the lust of the flesh)

We allow God to implant in us what his good will is for our lives so that we can be led by him. Then and only then are we going to understand and discern what is the will of God is for our lives.

One more thing we’re going to jump into and then to wrap this up.

Whoever believes in him will not be put to shame. Acts 16:25-34 says;

“And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

[26] And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.

[27] And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.

[28] But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.

[29] Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,

[30] And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

[31] And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

[32] And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.

[33] And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.

[34] And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

So, what must we do to be saved?

We must believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

That is our battle cry, that is what we need to tell somebody and that is our mission.

And as we do that, the blessings come.

We don’t do it for the blessings, we do it because God allows us to and we understand, and we say thank you Lord.

And if we ever do it for the blessings, we do it anunderstanding and a humble heart.

We need to have the right spirit when we go.

So as you go, understand that God will add to you what you need to get the job done.

Thank you for reading. Bye.
