Hello, this is Malachi.
We are going to do a cool mini series here.
I hope you got the chance to check out the book of first John mini series.
We are going to do another mini series and we’re going to get right into first Peter here.
Open your Bible open up the first peter.
The idea of these mini-series is to get more understanding of what the word says, to really expound on the word using footnotes and commentary which inside this Olive tree Bible app as well as stuff that I’ll put in.
Just allow the Holy Spirit to lead us and guide us as we can grow, learn and be effective for the ministry and for the gospel.
We are going to start in first Peter chapter 1 verse 3 right here and my title says “born again to a living hope.”
Let’s pray.
Father I just thank you Lord for your ministry, I thank you for your anointing.
I thank you for your Spirit that leads us and guides us into all truth.
I ask you Lord that you bless the hearer Father.
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God, that you would increase our faith and enlighten our capacity to understand who you are and what you have for us in life.
In Jesus name. Amen.
1 Peter 1:3-5;
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
[4] To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
[5] Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
I have a little note it’s very important to understand it.
We are going to expound on 2 Timothy 2 verse 12 and it says;
“Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory, with great joy to the only God our saviour through jesus christ our Lord be glory, majesty, dominion and authority before all time, now and forever amen.”
So as a believer, understanding the importance of “it is God’s anointing, God’s manifest presence, the Lord Jesus sacrifice” that brings us into redemption and to having that humble heart.
Peter was explaining that we have to understand that it’s God power who guards us and the one who keeps us.
Jude 1 verse 24 is another exposition that really goes into it. It says;
“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy”
They are really good verses to memorize — Second Timothy 2 verse 12 and Jude 1 verse 24. Why?
Because it explains and puts the effort is on God. it is for his name sake that he leads us into righteousness. It God that leads us and guides us and his anointing that keeps us.
It is not something that we can technically do without his grace and it is very important understand that God gives grace to the humble but he opposes the proud.
As we read this, we can understand it is God that is guarding us through faith for salvation. That way, we will be ready to be revealed in the last time.
1 Peter 1:6-7 says;
“Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
[7] That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ”
We can all go through a lot of different things with trials and temptations and with whatever the situation is.
On temptation, it is really important to understand that to be tempted is not a sin but to fall unto the temptation is a sin.
As a minister and as a christian, we are called to live a life on par with what Jesus did.
How did jesus live well? He lived holy and pure.
How can we do that? By receive his grace and his blessings to sanctify our bodies so that we can now live in that holiness and purity with him, as long as we abide with him.
Apart from him, we can’t do anything.
Understand (just as we learned in Jude 1 vs 24) that it is him who is able to keep us from stumbling and to present us blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy.
It is Lord’s job to keep us blameless and holy. It is our job to say “Yes Lord, help me, I’m here Lord, I surrender to you, Father use me, teach me and guide me”
There is a prayer that I say often, it is “Lord, we want less of us and more of you.”
We must decrease and God must increase in our lives. That is how we continue to grow and understand the word and to be used by God in in profound ways.
What exactly is this heavenly call?
What is your mission on earth?
What are you called to do?
How do you figure out that?
How do you hear the voice of God?
By spending time in the word. By spending time ministering to God and laying our life down before him.
As he leads and guides us, not being anxious of anything but with prayer and thanksgiving, lifting up our thoughts and expectations to God in reverence.
Let’s pick back up over here in verse 8.
“Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
[9] Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.”
There’s nobody that have seen God yet what we do is, we trust God in faith, we see him in faith and, we walk by faith and not by sight.
In verse 9 here, I wrote down something and it says,obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your soul and it’ll take us to Philippians 2 verse 12.
It says;
“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
[13] For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
Understanding this fear and this trembling that we are working out is a reverence.
it is;
Yes Lord, l’m here.
Yes Lord, use me.
Yes Lord, help me.
Yes Lord guide me.
I want to hear you.
I want to know you.
I want to understand your word.
To work out our own salvation with fear and trembling means to forever submit ourselves to God a daily basis. It also means to have our thoughts and our minds and our affections fixed on God so he can lead us.
When our mind is fixed on God, and we’re thinking of things that are lovely, noble, trustworthy (Philippians 4:8) — this is a great a great rendition of exactly what we’re talking about in terms of fixing our thoughts on God.
It says;
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
How do we understand what these things are?
When we read the Bible and we spend time with him in prayer then we can understand how to fix our minds and emotions on that.
1 Peter 1:10-12;
“Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
[11] Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
[12] Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.”
These Prophets (Isaiah, Elijah, etc) were saying “Hey, this christ, this messiah, these things that we’re prophesying about. We want to figure out what exactly is this”
Now we have the gospel (the Bible) here to explain the fulfillment of all these prophecies and there are certain prophecies obviously that haven’t been fulfilled like the second coming of christ.
And you have the book of revelation. There are also a lot of prophesies in Daniel that are still in the prophetic timeline but specifically talking about Christ, his resurrection, his birth and death.
These Prophets were speaking of “Hey, we really wanted to understand these things.”
Now we we can see them now, even as the Bible says here in verse 12; “The things that even the angels long to look into”
Colossians 1:27;
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
This passage is making us to understand that we have God living inside of us. We have the the manifest presence, the dynamite power of God living inside of us (You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and you’ll be my witnesses – Acts 1:8)
If God wants to bless us, you know the Bible says that “Hey, you being fathers give good gifts to your earthly children, how much better of gifts will God give to you because you’re his children if we say yes Lord and receive him in humility and understand that he is the one calling us.
This mystery that been hitting in us is christ the hope of glory and that is what colossians 1:27 is explaining.
Ephesians 1:18-21;
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
[19] And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
[20] Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places ,
[21] Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come
What exactly is the glorious riches of Christ We can dig into the Bible and understand.
What is this inheritance? You can read about the blessings in Deuteronomy 28 and that is just one chapter.
But there is an inheritance that’s given to the believer when they come to christ and they say:
“Yes Lord, lead me and guide me and, I want to be used for your good will.”
Ephesians 3:16-21;
“That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
[17] That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
[18] May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
[19] And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
[20] Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
[21] Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”
God is able to fill us with the fullness of himself when we receive the Holy Spirit.
We have the fullness of God, we have that divine healing and divine prosperity. We have that divine inheritance and understanding that “our names are written in the book of life.”
Yes we can go to heaven but there is also work to be done. We have to bring the word of God to other people.
We have to bring the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit to break the burdens to break the chains off people so they don’t have to be anxious, worried, bitter or living in resentment.
They don’t need to have these strongholds that bind them because the anointing breaks the yoke.
Matthew 11:28 explains what exactly the Lord doing and what is the Holy Spirit. It says;
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
[29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
[30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
When we come to the Lord, he breaks us free from issues, worries and frustrations and that freedom is something that we bring to others.
We have to go and tell them about Jesus, also telling to receive the Lord in faith and they will be broken free.
“You don’t have to be living in bondage or poverty or have a broke down Spirit all the time. ”
And that is the good news of the gospel and that is what the angels were longing to look into which is talked about.
I’m going to wrap this up here and will go deeper in the next series.
Thank you for reading.
